Debra King imparts a psychedelic quality to the photography she exhibits as Amapola artists’ co-op Gallery’s newest guest member.
A relative newcomer to New Mexico, Debra has a solid and long- term background in art in most of its forms. So impressed with her talent was her sixth grade teacher that she arranged for Debra to study art at the high school level. Debra continued this study through her A.A. degree and beyond.
Though experienced in many different art mediums, Debra always returned to painting as her first love. Indeed, she infuses her painting sensibility into her photography, through the use of Photoshop and other applications. She calls her style “contemporary abstract-expressionist photography. ” The images themselves are fused into aluminum or printed on Kodak Endura metallic paper, which light does not fade or effect in any way and is rated good for over 200 years.
For a lasting impression come see the works of Debra King at Amapola Gallery, 205 Romero N.W, on the Plaza above Yay! Yogurt in Old Town. We are open daily from 10 to 5.
