Amapola Gallery is located in historic Romero House, (Read more in last year’s post about how perfect this historic location is for our Gallery.) right on the Plaza in Old Town. We’ve been here for well over a decade and pleased we are, too. (Sounds a little Yoda -ish; must be the influence of Star Wars!)
One inevitability of a long -term residency, business or residential, especially in an old building, is wear and tear. Age. Worn out edges. Once in a while you just got to spruce up. Which is where we find ourselves.
This late winter Amapola ‘s floors will be transformed. Underneath the old carpets is wood of some sort, along with some sort of something else of the flooring persuasion. We’ll either get new carpet, refinished wood, or a bit o’ each.
While the carpet’s away, the painters will play. Newly painted walls and display cubes, cleaned and reassembled glass towers for our jewelers, AND new flooring! We’ll enter spring refreshed, sparkling and ready to dazzle you.
We’ll keep you posted on dates of our unveiling. Meantime, our historic self is open as usual, 10-5, seven days a week. It’s how we got so grubby to begin with!
For more information on the upcoming renovation at historic Romero House, call the Gallery at 505-242-4311 and speak with one of our members. Two of our member artists work each day. Meanwhile, feel free to browse some of the other reasons we love our location in this post, 35 Things We Love About Old Town Albuquerque.
After a lifetime batting words around like shuttlecocks in an endless game of badminton, it is a pleasure to use them to promote Old Town and my fellow artists at Amapola Gallery. –Kristin Parrott, carver, painter and acorn stuffer
