Marguerite "Midge" Aragon

The spirituality and symbolism of sacred art are what drew Midge to the study of icons.  Midge has studied with several master iconographers learning traditional methods of iconography.  The techniques she employs in writing icons range from the traditional use of egg tempera on gessoed wood to acrylic paint on tile.  The icons are painted in the traditional manner of using a dark base and progressively building translucent lighter colors.  Gold leaf is applied for the halo and backgrounds.

The beauty and spirituality of the Southwest is conveyed through the vibrancy and brilliance of pastels.

Midge has exhibited her work at several gallery shows in Santa Fe, NM, Los Alamos, NM, Albuquerque, NM, and Scottsdale, AZ.  She has painted icons for churches and private collectors in the United States and Europe.

"In writing icons I discover more faith and hope, faith in God's love and mercy and hope for all humankind."
