July Featured Artists Capture Earth and Sky

The July Featured Artists Show, “Down to Earth, Flying High” at Amapola Gallery opens July 1 and runs through the month.

The First Friday Featured Artists reception at Amapola Gallery gives you the opportunity to meet and mingle with two or three of our all-local all-the-time artist -members. The reception is held in conjunction with City-wide First Friday ARTscrawl.

July’s Featured Artists are Rebecca Olesen and Sandra Moench with the theme “Down to Earth, Flying High.”

This sky-scape is the work of acrylic painter and July featured artist Rebecca Oleson at Amapola Gallery.

Rebecca’s acrylic land- and skyscapes fly high with the subtle but distinctive colors and energy of the Southwest. Sandra’s functional ceramics — pitchers, bowls, mugs, casseroles and more — combine iron, copper, cobalt, a feel for form and various painted designs to elevate her shaped earth creations.

These functional pottery pieces are the work of July Featured artist Sandra Moench at Amapola Gallery Albuquerque.

Earth meets sky Friday, July 1, from 4-7, (our ARTscrawl July Featured Artist Reception) and in a special display throughout the month.

After a lifetime batting words around like shuttlecocks in an endless game of badminton, it is a pleasure to use them to promote Old Town and my fellow artists at Amapola Gallery. –Kristin Parrott, carver, painter and acorn stuffer
