Gayle Petty

Gayle is an accomplished egg artist who works with different sizes of eggs ranging from finch to ostrich.  She works in a variety of styles including Faberge, bead work, hand painted and carved designs.  Carved emu eggs reveal distinctive color variations at different depths in the shell.  Her eggs include a wide variety of color, texture, themes and functionality.

Having been exposed to arts and crafts at an early age, she tried many mediums.  Early works included macrame, jewelry fabrication, stained glass, weaving and first attempts at decorating eggs.  Gayle's mother, a very talented artist, was an inspiration and encouraged her artistic endeavors.

Later in life she discovered master egg artists and has since taken classes from some of those masters.  She has studied with masters from California, Colorado, England, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, the Netherlands and Washington.

Her work has been juried into the Rio Grande Arts and Crafts Show, Weems Art Fest and Corrales Visual Arts Show.  She is now exhibiting at Amapola Gallery in Old Town Albuquerque.  Among her egg art items are decorative boxes, illuminated dioramas, kaleidoscopes, oil lamps, hanging ornaments and jewelry.  Special orders have been done for weddings, Christmas, anniversaries, engagements, holidays, birthdays and other special occasions.  Gayle invites orders in addition to her gallery exhibits.
