Bruce Gilbert
My appreciation
and respect for the culture, tradition and natural beauty that exists in
the southwest have been nurtured over twenty years of life in New Mexico.
My artistic evolution began with rug making, which opened my eyes to the
myriad patterns that encompass southwestern design motifs. Soon,
I transitioned to glass as the medium for my artistic expression.
With the availability of a multitude of glass colors, textures and styles,
I found a world of options with which to experiment. My repertoire
includes both two and three-dimensional pieces, to include mirrors, window
panels, lanterns and complex Victorian style planters. In ornamental
suncatchers, I represent several of the most popular icons of southwestern
culture. All pieces require hand cutting of the glass which is then
encompassed in copper foil and soldered.
I have
twice received first place awards at Weems Artfest. I welcome all
forms of custom work, windows (leaded or copper foiled), as well as any
style, size, and shape of mirror, lantern, cabinet, suncatcher, etc.
All examples below are available in a rainbow of colors and textures.
