Several balloons float over Albuquerque almost every morning of the year. Practice for the glorious aerial extravaganza which is Balloon Fiesta. And here it is again! Gas-powered hot air balloons aloft!
Since gravity eventually prevails why not continue the process and keep coming down–to Old Town, a tiny, historical jewel, with museums and marvels, restaurants and ristras, and truly New Mexican treasures.
Number One treasure is Amapola Gallery, a true artists’ co-op, where we are all New Mexican all the time. We are a one-stop shopping experience. With works by 40 New Mexicans we’re our own arts and crafts fair, open daily, with no entry fee! We carry an alphabet of the arts, from art glass, bowls in wood and ceramic and crosses in wood and metal, to–I’m thinking! Okay, no x, y or z. Though we usually have a serigraph zebra or two. Come on down and binge watch our paintings, art prints and tie-dyed onesies. And notecards–notecards-notecards!
We’re waiting for You at Amapola Gallery, 205 Romero N.W., right on the Plaza in Old Town. (505) 242-4311 or amapolagallery.com.
