An artists cooperative art gallery, Amapola Gallery is home to 40 artists. Most are from the greater Albuquerque area. The diverse membership gives the gallery an incredible foundation and a large and ever-changing presentation. Guest member artists are juried in quarterly and as situations change, new guests join the members.
Amapola Gallery is pleased to welcome guest member Ann Tidrow-Connely, a painter of luscious landscapes.
Ann has both a BA and MA in K-12 education with a focus on painting, drawing and ceramics. Her focus in Amapola, however, is acrylic painting. Her twenty years in Albuquerque, and background in Texas and Oklahoma, have left her continually inspired by the colors, scenery and unrivaled sunsets of the area. This inspiration is beautifully visible now at Amapola. The Sandias have never looked so good. Come see for yourself!
Gourds! Amapola once again has painted gourds! Come see for yourself as we welcome new guest member Barbara Lewis to the Amapola family.
With a B.S. in Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Barbara has an extensive art background, including pottery and beadwork. A visit to friends in Arizona some eight years ago introduced her to the discipline of gourd painting. Though her major influence is the various SW native cultures, she loves the naturalness of gourds. Their 3-D surface never exactly repeats, and generally dictates much of the finished design. Although Barbara says, “I’m just a color person, ” her major interest is always design.
Lady gourds, table gourds, wall gourds, all with Barbara Lewis’s distinctive, colorful designs — come see!
After a lifetime batting words around like shuttlecocks in an endless game of badminton, it is a pleasure to use them to promote Old Town and my fellow artists at Amapola Gallery. –Kristin Parrott, carver, painter and acorn stuffer
