Amapola Gallery, an artists cooperative on Old Town Plaza in Albuquerque received a Spring Makeover.
If you haven’t been to Old Town lately, you have yet to see the changes which are transforming both Amapola Gallery and the environs of our home, historic Romero House. (Read more about Historic Romero House in this earlier post.)
Upstairs our jewelry “tower ” showcases have been raised onto stands, the better to tempt you with. Our extensive greeting card display now occupies a wall space more accessible for you as you make your selections. Windows which once displayed glass art on grid systems are now open and airy. All in all we have a great new look for spring.
Downstairs on our patio the scrubby plants have been replaced by lovely brick work, resulting in even more seating space, where you can enjoy your delicious Yay! yogurt and review your art purchases. The front wall on the sidewalk has been lowered and two big shrubs have been removed from the sidewalk, too.
It’s all clean, fresh and inviting for spring. Come see for yourselves. Amapola Gallery and the works of our 40 local artists are always worth a look.
After a lifetime batting words around like shuttlecocks in an endless game of badminton, it is a pleasure to use them to promote Old Town and my fellow artists at Amapola Gallery. –Kristin Parrott, carver, painter and acorn stuffer
